~~Arts in Parts~~ reaches out to kids in areas of New York City by bringing imaginative workshops directly into the community. After the effects of Hurricane Sandy, we saw a need in particular areas for children to be stimulated through a creative experience. Our hope is to assist families by offering volunteer based art programming led by different artists, educators, and creatives who are passionate about involving children in diverse forms of art making.

We are now looking for volunteers to help run workshops, currently in Rockaway, through Arts in Parts. Right now, the workshops will be every Sunday starting January 6, 2013, time TBA. We are open to all areas of interest and encourage you to have full creative control of the workshop that you choose to run. The age of the kids ranges between 4 and 12. Keep in mind that this means a variety of interests and abilities, and that workshops should have a flexible component.

Please submit a brief proposal, list of materials and any other needs you may have for the workshop. The materials are coming in on a donation basis, and while we know things may change along the way, it is important to at least have a general sense of what you will need so that we can try our best to meet your requests.

Along with helping you find materials, one or both of us, along with at least one other volunteer, will be there to offer general support. If you feel your workshop will require more helping hands, that can be provided.

Based on the level of interest and everyone’s availability, we will devise a schedule for different workshops that will take place as proposals come in. *For January workshops, it would be best to have proposals within the next couple of weeks. If you are interested in running a workshop on a specific day, but don’t have a specific idea in mind, please email us regardless.

If you can’t commit to running a workshop, here are some other needs:
-volunteers to assist those leading a workshop and to lend an extra hand.
