Somebody Else’s Problem (SEP) is an ongoing series that explores the different ways an artist can lose control of their own work. Every new part to the series uses means of destruction, re-contextualization, collaboration and attempts of preservation in order to further investigate this notion. The work continues to grow with each version, but the artist’s control over the work dwindles as it falls into the hands of other people, disseminates through the internet and everything in between.
Somebody Else’s Problem 3 (SEP 3) is a project facilitated by Diwa Tamrong in which she sent out an open call to all the owners of the first SEP and asked them to create a response to the instructions given in that project.
Individuals were given the option to directly collaborate with Diwa or create something completely on their own. SEP 3 includes everything from a zine made out of emails between Alana Celii and Diwa exploring their journals and Myspace pages from their adolescent years, stickers created by Leah Goren which include instructions on what to do with them, and a zine that you have to put together yourself, made from files sent to Diwa in an from Vincent Passerat, an artist who resides in France.

All six projects, created by various artists and individuals, are packaged in a flat rate box, which, after being received, can be re-used to re-send to multiple people.”
